Installing RabbitCAM X

Installing RabbitCAM X takes only a few minutes. This guide walks you through downloading the installer, completing the installation, and launching RabbitCAM X for the first time.

Download RabbitCAM X

Download the latest version of RabbitCAM X from the official SourceRabbit website. We recommend always using the most recent available installer so that you have the latest features, improvements, and fixes.

Once the download is complete, locate the RabbitCAM X installer in your Downloads folder or in the location where your browser saved the file.

Install RabbitCAM X

To install RabbitCAM X:

  1. Double-click the downloaded installer to start the setup.
  2. If Windows asks for permission to run the installer, confirm that you want to continue.
  3. Follow the instructions shown by the setup wizard.
  4. Choose the installation location if the installer gives you that option, or keep the default location.
  5. Wait for the installation to complete.
  6. When setup has finished, launch RabbitCAM X from the Start menu or desktop shortcut.

In most cases, the default installation options are suitable and do not need to be changed.

First Launch

When you start RabbitCAM X for the first time, you will need to sign in with a SourceRabbit account. If you do not already have one, you can create an account for free.

A paid subscription is not required to sign in or use RabbitCAM X. Without an active subscription, you can still create and open projects, import CAD files, define machining operations, generate toolpaths, and use the simulation and other core CAM features.

The main limitation of the free version is post-processing. An active RabbitCAM X subscription is required to use Post Processors and generate machine-ready G-Code.

This means you can explore and use the complete CAM workflow, prepare your projects, calculate toolpaths, and simulate your machining operations without purchasing a subscription. You only need to subscribe when you are ready to post-process your project and generate G-Code for your CNC machine.

After signing in, RabbitCAM X will open the main workspace and you can start working on your first project.

Keeping RabbitCAM X Up to Date

SourceRabbit regularly improves RabbitCAM X with new features, performance improvements, and bug fixes. We recommend keeping the application up to date so that you are always using the latest version.

When a newer version becomes available, download the latest installer from the official SourceRabbit website and follow the installation process again.

Having Trouble Installing RabbitCAM X?

If RabbitCAM X does not install or start correctly, first make sure that the installer was downloaded completely and that you have permission to install applications on your computer.

Security software or Windows security settings may occasionally prevent an application from installing or starting. If this happens, verify that you downloaded RabbitCAM X directly from the official SourceRabbit website before allowing it to run.

If the problem continues, contact SourceRabbit Support and include as much information as possible, such as your Windows version, RabbitCAM X version, and any error message displayed during installation.
